Gaultier’s Haute Couture: Sexy and Sensational

Gaultier Haute Couture for Fall 2011.

There is a lot of exciting fashion coming out of the haute couture shows in Paris this week. Some of that excitement is emanating from the runway of Jean Paul Gaultier.

Gaultier is taking advantage of the high tech fabrics that are being developed in Japan and Europe that combine unusual “ingredients” such as automotive metals with delicate silks. The results: materials that look airy and diaphanous yet have surprising strength. They offer designers a whole new way of creating sculptural shapes.

Expect to see a lot of pleating in the near future. Gaultier employed pleats in a variety of ways, from the narrowest pleats to the widest and from neckline to hemline.

Even a classic trench coat or suit can look intriguing again when created with these tantalizing fabrics.

Wow! I love the total looks. It is kind of retro in its own way. Fashion gets more and more exciting since there is even more competition in the fashion world. As the designers get more competitive, the consumer benefits from that.
