If you have been reading my columns for awhile you probably know that for the past 15 years, on Black Friday, I ran a story in The Honolulu Advertiser featuring numerous gift ideas that are MADE IN HAWAII and cost under $35 (well, it was $25 for years, but inflation required me to up the ante).
It was always frustrating to have to publish my entire gift list in one issue, on one day, just as the season began. I would go shopping a few days after the story ran and find something wonderful but it was too late to tell my readers about it.
Well, I no longer have those restrictions. Now I can publish gift ideas on my blog any time, any day, right up until Christmas Eve. Starting tomorrow, expect to find at least one gift idea per day on this blog. Most will be made in Hawaii. All will come from boutiques and institutions (museums, galleries, and the like) that are owned by Island folks. No gifts from big box, Mainland or chain stores. All of my gift picks will cost less than $35.
So be sure to stop by this blog every day throughout the holidays. Let me do your sleuthing for you. You will be glad you did.
